Description
The robust device works with an SD card and 8 AA batteries. The BatLure is suitable for:
- Attracting bats using social or echolocation sounds to catch them for research purposes with a mist net or harp trap;
- Attracting the attention of bats to a potential roosting site to increase the colonization rate of new roosting sites, for example: bat boxes, newly established hibernation sites and new summer and maternity roosting sites;
- Playing bat sounds as part of training and bat detector training;
- Testing the proper functioning of bat detectors and recording systems;
- Inventorying mating roosting sites by playing the chorus of courting males and listening to the response of territorial males.
The device is compact and robustly built, equipped with a hanging eye and tripod thread to be mounted on a tripod. The BatLure is powered by the internal batteries (8 AA batteries) or via a (supplied) external cable (input 12 V).
