Villa Botanica is a nature educational house in the city park in Aalst. We received a request from them to put the house more in the spotlight. Along the Parklaan we placed a large insect hotel in the shape of the logo of Villa Botanica with various colorful elements from the logo. Near the house we placed a feeding house for a squirrel. Children can collect food from the park and place it in the feeding house. In addition, an hedgehog house is provided. Here children can collect various leaves from the park. The contours of the leaves are a recess from the printwork. In this way, children can discover which leaf they have found. The leaves then serve immediately as insulation material through the winter for the hedgehog enclosure, which is processed in the table.
At the front of the house, we have installed a rotating wall. There are various animals that can be brought to the tree. By turning, one can discover the life cycle and various fun facts about each animal. In the park itself, there is a wooden sculpture of a caterpillar with a directional indicator pointing towards the house. All illustrations, prints, and constructions were created by our diverse, creative team.
