Description
Suitable bird seed mix for finches, blackbirds, robins and wrens is spread under the roof. A bowl of water can be placed on the shelf. The roof protects the food on the shelf from rain and snow. The open part is then easier to access.
Tit balls and peanut nets can be hung on the sticks. The holes in the post can be filled with insect food or woodpecker peanut butter for woodpeckers, treecreeper and nuthatches.
The Robinia post is also interesting for insects and fungi, as it has not been treated with chemicals and the soft sapwood is still present.
This will rot away relatively quickly in the first few years, but the hard heartwood will remain.
