Description
The bat box has a back so that it can also be mounted on smooth walls. A mortar layer has been applied to the entrance to increase grip in the box, it also enhances the robust feel of the box and imitates the conditions found in building cavities, where bats like to roost.
PLACEMENT
Place the bat box at a minimum height of 3 m, but preferably as high as possible on a building. Don't place it near a window or lamppost. Preferably give the bat box a sunny position. Bat boxes are usually discovered most quickly if they are placed near an existing flight path. Suitable positions for bat boxes are positions just under eaves. If you hang the boxes in the context of compensation or mitigation, the guideline should be that for every disappearing place of residence, 4 replacement places should be hung.
