Description
The nest box for the treecreeper and nuthatch differs from other nest boxes in that the opening is not entrance hole but a crawl-in opening. By milling this out at an angle from the back, it is flush with the trunk of the tree. That makes it more attractive for treecreeper that climb the tree in search of nesting places.
The nest box has a narrowed bottom that makes it less likely to be occupied by other birds.
It has a removable roof that hinges open at the side.
PLACEMENT
On tree trunks at a minimum height of 2 m. The opening faces north or east to prevent rain.
MAINTENANCE
Recommended to clean the nest box annually during winter.
