Description
Until a few years ago, sparrows did very well in the Benelux because there were more hedge edges and many houses still had old roofs and an outdated roof structure. Due to extensive modernization, there are fewer and fewer suitable breeding grounds for this bird today. A house sparrow sen nest box is the perfect replacement for the disappearance of these nesting opportunities.
Sparrow hotels come in many shapes and sizes. The Ecovery colony box is made horizontal and can accommodate five breeding pairs. All five nests can be opened at once via the front of the nest box.
PLACEMENT
The colony box is best placed near rough corners with plants and shrubs at a location where house sparrow are already present within a radius of 500 m. An evergreen shrub or tree near the nest site can serve as a safe refuge. The cabinet can be hung on your house or any other building at a height of at least two meters in a shady place.
MAINTENANCE
It is recommended to clean the nest box once a year during autumn.
