Description

The willow tit is finding it increasingly difficult to breed due to a lack of dead trees in the current landscape. He looks very critically for rotting trees in which to dig out his nest. This means that a willow tit nest box presents some challenges.

On the one hand, the entrance to the nest box should look like a tree and on the other hand, it is important that the box is filled with hard-packed sawdust or a rotting birch trunk. This ensures that the bird still has to dig out its nest and also slows down the migration of other tit species. The small entrance hole of 28mm also plays a role in this.

Studies show that the willow tit lays a higher number of eggs in a nest box than in the wild.

PLACEMENT
Because the willow tit is a sedentary species, a nest box has the best results if it is hung near an existing population. The nest box is hung between 2 and 5 meters high in a wooded area. attract the willow tit
