Description
The woodpecker that is most commonly found in this nest box is the great spotted woodpecker. With a bit of luck it is also possible to find the green woodpecker and the middle spotted woodpecker. The nest box is distinguished from others by the thickened front hatch and thickened hollow bottom.
The front is covered with a tree stump. This best mimics the natural situation without compromising the lifespan of the nest box.
PLACEMENT
The cabinet is hung at a minimum height of 3 m, out of the wind and rain and in a shady area. It is most successful in forests and densely wooded parks. During placement , a layer of sawdust is applied to the bottom.
MAINTENANCE
Clean annually in winter and replace the old sawdust.
