Description
This colony and hibernation box is equipped with triple-layered, ribbed wooden panels that serve as a roosting and crevice habitat. Thanks to the patented double-wall system with multiple insulation layers, the 1FW also offers unparalleled insulation in winter. Nevertheless, the breathable material and integrated ventilation guarantee a safe hibernation for the bats.
The box is just as suitable in summer as a nursery and for the formation of colonies. The front panel can be opened independently of the hanging shelves; these can be removed separately after opening the front panel. This provides extra ease of use.
Placement tips
The bat box is best placed at a minimum height of three meters, on a facade, tree or other stable construction with a free flight path. The opening is preferably directed south, southeast or southwest so that sufficient warmth enters. Avoid locations with direct artificial light or bustle, so that bats can undisturbed use their roost. For larger colonies, multiple boxes can be mounted next to each other.
Cleaning tips:
Because this box is very popular with larger bat colonies, it is absolutely necessary to clean it of droppings at least once or twice a year. This way, the box remains an ideal large roost all year round. However, during the winter months, the bat box must not be opened, to prevent extreme temperature fluctuations in the interior.

The box is made of weather-resistant wood concrete and measures approximately 38 centimeters wide and 50 centimeters high. The weight is about 36 kilograms.
For mounting, a hanging bracket, two hanging blocks, aluminum nails, and a mounting manual are included.
