Description
Nesting boxes for starlings are often hung around soccer fields and golf courses. Here, they ensure that grubs and leatherjackets do not damage the turf. Starlings are particularly fond of these larvae and are thus used as a natural form of pest control.
INSTALLATION
The nest box is preferably hung at a height of three to five meters with the opening facing northeast. Starlings breed early, so the nest box is best hung already in the autumn. The substrate does not matter much, the box can be hung on a tree, barn or house. Because starlings breed in colonies, it is good to hang multiple nest boxes near each other.
MAINTENANCE
It is recommended to clean the box één times per year in the autumn. This can be done via the front which opens easily.
