Description
The number of breeding sites for kestrels is decreasing, this nesting box helps the kestrel find a suitable breeding site. A nesting box for the kestrel works in many cases. It is a beautiful large element where it is easy to see whether it is inhabited or not due to the large opening. Often, nesting boxes for the kestrel are placed by farmers with a view to natural pest control of mice.
INSTALLATION
The nest box is hung at a minimum height of 4 meters with the opening facing north or east. Since kestrels hunt above open areas, it is essential to find a good location for the nest box, such as a solitary tree between fields, a forest edge, or a tree-lined avenue.
Consider a free flight path and ensure that the kestrel has a good view of its surroundings from its nest box. If the box is placed in an area where geese also want to use it, it is recommended to attach a vertical slat halfway up the opening. This makes the opening too small for geese to land but still large enough for a kestrel. Fill the bottom of the box with a good layer of pearl grit.
MAINTENANCE
During the annual cleaning of the box in autumn, it is recommended to check the suspension. The large box is subjected to harsh winds at that height. Empty the box completely every year and fill it with fresh nesting material.

Concrete Plywood
The inside is completely finished with concrete plywood. This ensures that this box is easy and thoroughly cleanable.
Appearance
Thanks to the larch planks, the nest box has a beautiful, natural appearance. These durable planks are treated with ecological linseed oil, so the nest box remains intact for even longer.
