Description
In theory, Coal tits can also breed in other tit nesting boxes, but in practice these are usually occupied by the more aggressive great tit. Therefore, it is recommended to use this nesting box when the target species is specifically the coal tit.
INSTALLATION
This nesting box is placed in coniferous forests or in mixed forests with enough coniferous trees. There is no minimum hanging height for this nesting box. Black tits naturally breed in both tree cavities and cavities between tree roots and piles of branches.
The higher the box is hung, the less chance cats have of catching the birds . You can additionally protect the nesting box by installing an marten- and cat belt and/or a protective plate.
MAINTENANCE
Clean the nest box after the breeding season.
