The peregrine falcon is making a serious global advance. It can easily adapt to urbanization, with tall buildings effectively replacing the rocks of its original habitat. As the fastest bird in the world, city pigeons are an easy prey for it. As a result, peregrine falcons are often seen as a natural means of controlling pigeon plagues.
The placement of a nest box for the peregrine falcon should be a well-considered choice. It can be successful quickly if it is placed in the right way and in the right location. Among other things, consideration must be given to competing peregrine falcon pairs in the vicinity and to the presence of other birds. If the box is placed too close to a nature reserve, for example, the falcon may catch more endangered birds than pigeons.
