Description
In mild winters, the box can also serve as a winter residence. It is suitable for different species of bats, including the Rough pipistrelle, Common pipistrelle, Common big-eared bat and the Long-tailed bat. Multiple boxes hung in the same area significantly increase the chances of success.
The draught-free and light-tight cabinet from Ecovery has a hatch that hinges open laterally, making it possible to mount a sturdy roof to prevent water from seeping in. Because the climbing plank is provided with milled grooves instead of mesh, the nails of the bats cannot get stuck as they climb up.
The entrance hole with a width of 1.5 cm makes it possible for bats to enter the box, but not for birds. The natural roughness of the wood ensures that the bats can climb optimally into the box and remain hanging.
PLACEMENT
Do not place near windows, artificial light sources or other disturbance sources. Minimum 4.5 meters free space under the box provided with a free approach route for the box. When hanging multiple boxes, give them different orientations. Place the bat boxes near an existing flight route of bats.
