Description
With an entrance hole of 28 mm, the box can be occupied by the blue tit or black tit.
When the nest box is placed in an area where squirrels and/or woodpeckers live, it is best to provide a protective plate. The protective plate makes sure the entrance can't be enlarged by squirrels/woodpeckers to steal the eggs from the nest.
PLACEMENT
Tits do not like temperatures that are too high, so do not hang the hive in direct sunlight.
The direction is not of utmost importance, but in open areas it is best placed with the entrance to the east. Tits are often the victims of cats, so hang the box at a height of at least 2 m. You can also provide a marten- or cat ring for protection. It is best to hang different tit boxes at least 30m apart.
MAINTENANCE
Recommended to clean the nest box annually during winter.
