Description
The nest box for the pine marten has a separate maternity and bedroom and a viewing platform. It is placed in the absence of sufficiently old trees with suitable large nest cavities.
The box can be made adjusted for the stone marten, for which we place the entrance at the bottom on the longest side. If you want to use the nest box for the stone marten, please indicate this when you order.
PLACEMENT
For the pine marten, the nest box should hang in a tree at a height of at least 3 m. The ideal habitat is mature mixed forests or coniferous forests, not too close to open spaces.
MAINTENANCE
The nest box is used for raising young, but also as a shelter in bad weather and as a resting place during the day. That is why it is difficult to choose a suitable time to clean the nest box. The best period is September or October, but always check carefully whether there are any martens present.
