Description
The nesting box has a double bottom for insulation. Extra insulation can be achieved by placing hay in the box.
INSTALLATION
The box is best placed in a shrub-rich zone under a pile of branches, garden waste, stones or blackberries or buried in a berm. The layer on top of the nest box should be at least 50 cm high. During installation, it may be useful to place a piece of PVC pipe with a diameter of 6 cm and a length of approximately 50 cm at the entrance. The pipe points, as it were, into the pile of branches, leading the way to the entrance and stimulating visits from the martens. Applying fish oil to the nest box can serve as an additional lure.
It is important that the box remains dry and is draft-free, with the opening facing south or towards a sheltered side.
MAINTENANCE
Because mustelids are susceptible to chemical products, it may not be treated with any other product.
