Description
Sparrows did very well in the Benelux until a few years ago because there were more hedgerows and many houses still had old roofs and an outdated roof structure. Due to extensive modernization, there are fewer and fewer suitable breeding places for this bird today. A sparrow hotel is the perfect replacement for the disappearance of these nesting facilities.
Sparrow hotels come in many shapes and sizes. The colony box of Ecovery is made horizontally and can accommodate five breeding pairs. All five nests can be opened at once via the front of the nest box.
INSTALLATION
The colony box is best placed near rough corners with plants and shrubs at a location within a radius of 500m where house sparrow are already present. An evergreen shrub or tree near the nesting site can serve as a safe refuge. The box can be hung on your house or any other building at a height of at least two meters in a shaded area.
MAINTENANCE
It is recommended to clean the nest box once a year in the autumn.
